BARONE RITTER DE ZAHONY
8 Piazza Pirano Aquileia
The origins of the company trace back to the medieval monastery of Santa Maria di Aquileia, home to the estate since 1850 when Baron Ettore Ritter de Záhony transformed the former monastery into an innovative agricultural enterprise dedicated to viticulture. The lily, the emblem of the Benedictines, is still carved into the entrance gate. The care of the work and the quality of the wine were immediately recognized, earning numerous awards at all major European exhibitions, including the 1899 Paris World’s Fair.
After almost 170 years of activity, the Monastero di Aquileia estate now spans 130 hectares, 60 of which are dedicated to vineyards, continuing the winemaking tradition of the Ritter de Záhony family, now in its seventh generation. Today, the methods used to work the vines and the attention paid to the varied soil profiles result in grapes of exceptional maturity, producing elegant wines with intense aromas. All vineyards are CEVIQ-certified (Italian Wine Quality Certification) to ensure sustainable quality.
